Nuthatch Journal is our very own online publication, centered around work dealing with themes of nature, environmentalism, environmental justice, and the like. We're dedicated to providing an open outlet for those looking to get their work and ideas out into the world.
As a contributor, you'll join a community of other young writers, artists, musicians, thinkers, and scientists, all of whom share a common passion for Cynefin's core values. We encourage discussion, collaboration, and original expression, in any way you choose.
We publish all work on our website. However, depending on participation, a few pieces will be included in Nuthatch Journal's online magazine, published quarterly.
Want to get published? Looking for a leadership position? Have questions?
*If you're looking for a dissection of the climate crisis, environmental issues, and research-based solutions, take a look at The Paradigm Initiative.
Welcome to essays! Here, we'll discuss our points of view and perspectives on aspects of environmentalism, sustainability, and nature. We'll talk about personal experiences, analyses of ideas relating to aforementioned topics, and so on. I promise, this will be FAR more interesting than the essay seminar in English class.
Pretty self-explanatory. This topic is open to any form of creative work (as long as it has some grounding in Cynefin's topics of interest), including plays, prose, poetry, etc. Go wild.
Calling all visual artists! This category is for any form of non-written art you would like to publish, including photography, paintings, sketching, digital art, etc. We ask that you provide a short blurb about the ideas/inspiration behind your work.
Here is a place to showcase your original ideas on environmentalism and solutions to current issues. This should have some basis in research and fact, but this is a blank page, completely open to your thoughts. If the idea is developed appropriately, we'll pass it along to The Paradigm Initiative and ask you to be a long-time contributor.
If you've done your own experiments/studies and want to get them out into the world, this is a great place to do so.
Just be sure to indicate which category you think your work might be in.
We would like to work with you through the process of getting your work ready to be published. We'll go over your work together, edit if appropriate, and finalize it for publication.
If you would like to provide a bio, please do-- that would be utterly marvelous :) Please indicate if you would like to be listed as the creator of your work using any alias (including anonymous) apart from your given name. Please indicate your pronouns as well, so that we can address you correctly when communicating. Thanks!
There aren't that many. ;)
